From chat to agentic system: OpenRouter and spec-driven development

Abstract

Hands-on workshop on moving from the Claude or ChatGPT web interface to working with an agentic system on your own computer, using Hermes Agent and models from OpenRouter. It covers the anatomy of an agentic system, the role of AGENTS.md (the project’s working rules) and SYSTEM_DESIGN.md (what gets built), and the spec-driven development (SDD) paradigm. In the exercise, using simulated dairy herd data in Excel, participants build with R and Quarto a weekly milk production report that can be regenerated every week; each participant then adapts it to their own data and technical question.
